What moves the price

Five things that matter most

  • Condition and prep. Flaking paint, cracks and stains take time to fix properly.
  • Size and height. More wall area and second storeys take longer and may need access gear.
  • Surface type. Weatherboard takes far more prep than render or brick.
  • Colour change. Going light over dark often needs an extra coat.
  • Paint range. Premium paints cost more but usually last longer outside.

Five questions to ask every painter

What prep is included?

Washing, filling, sanding and priming should be listed, not assumed.

Which paint, how many coats?

Brand, range and coats on the page. Two topcoats is the norm.

Ceilings, doors and trims?

Make sure every quote covers the same surfaces before comparing prices.

What’s your licence number?

Over $5,000 in NSW it’s required. Check it on Verify NSW.

Is the price fixed, with GST?

A fixed total beats an hourly rate that keeps running.

Our quotes answer all five

Prep, paint, coats, inclusions and start date, in writing.

Good to know

Pricing questions

Why do painting quotes vary so much?

Mostly prep and paint. A low quote often skips sanding, filling and undercoats, or uses a cheaper product. Ask every painter to list prep, paint brand and number of coats so you can compare fairly.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. We give a fixed price for the job, so you know the total before we start.

How much deposit do you take?

NSW law caps deposits on residential building work at 10% of the price. We stay within that.

Is GST included?

Yes, our quotes show the full price you pay, including GST.
