Which paint finish goes where?

The sheen matters as much as the colour. Shinier paint is tougher and easier to clean, but shows every bump in the wall.

Flat / matt

No shine, hides bumps and patches. Marks easily.

Best for: ceilings

Low sheen

Soft eggshell glow that wipes clean. The everyday wall finish.

Best for: living rooms, bedrooms

Semi-gloss

Tough and moisture-resistant. Shows flaws more.

Best for: kitchens, bathrooms, laundries

Gloss enamel

Hard, shiny and scrubbable. Brings out crisp edges.

Best for: doors, skirtings, trims

Not sure? We’ll recommend the right finish for each room in your quote.

Room by room

What we recommend for each room

Living & bedrooms

Low sheen walls in a warm white or soft neutral, flat ceilings. Easy to touch up and calm to live with.

Kitchens & bathrooms

Moisture- and mould-resistant semi-gloss that handles steam, splashes and regular wiping.

Hallways & kids’ rooms

Scrubbable, washable wall paint for high-traffic areas that get bumped and drawn on.

Interior painting questions

Can I stay home while you paint?

Yes, most people do. We work room by room so you always have somewhere to be, and use low-odour water-based paint on walls and ceilings.

Do you paint ceilings, doors and skirtings too?

Yes. Your quote lists exactly which surfaces are included, so there’s no confusion about what you’re getting.

How long does a full interior take?

A typical three-bedroom home takes 3 to 5 working days, depending on prep, ceilings and how many colours you choose.

Will one coat cover?

Rarely. We allow two topcoats on walls as standard, plus an undercoat when going light over dark or over fresh patching.

Thinking about a room, or the whole house?

Tell us what you’d like painted. We’ll come out, measure up and send a fixed written price, usually within 48 hours.
